I created this site, starting your own business ideas, to learn about some of the most effective ways to start and market your own business.

How do businesses turn profit? How do people make money online? Why can't I do it?

Just to get myself inspired I’ve started researching and listing possible “starting your own business ideas”. I will also try to get some advice from real business owners to find out how they use the Internet. Does a website on top of Google increase their profits? What challenges they deal with in running their businesses?

Check out the video I posted above with some common sense ideas I’ve researched about the basic concepts of what it takes to start a small business and market it online. This is just theory, at some point I want to test these concepts out and post the results.

Another topic I want to learn about is how to easily create an effective website. And maybe that’s a good place to start...

First thing I want to find out is how to create a nice small business website, hopefully for free. Second thing I want to learn is how to market it online. Third thing I want to discover is – can much interest you can expect to generate for your business by marketing it online.

Basically, without the usual BS and exaggerated promises, what can the Internet do to make a business more successful?

Also, I’ll be looking around, watching what’s going on and adding my own diabolical observations on what I have read and what I have heard about the unhappy marriage of small business and the Internet.

But first, I’m going to get started on my first self-imposed challenge. Create an effective small business website on a shoestring or even dental floss budget.

I had this tagline before that went like this: ‘Here on starting your own business ideas we help each other find our feet and seize opportunities in the land of online commerce’.

I like that it sounds so inclusive but the reality is that there’s an abundance of scamming, spamming, incompetence and general lack of integrity in this digital town. We could do with a good sheriff.

And instead of opening our arms to strangers who promise us millions we need to batten down the hatches, raise the drawbridge, hole up in our underground bunker and create a new world order where we’re the movers and shakers, not the ones chasing scraps and pennies online. Anybody out there know how we do that?

Seriously if you do please fill in the contact form - I’d love to know. Maybe you have your own experience with an online or any other small business. I’ll be happy to post it here for everyone to read and learn and laugh about! (or cry!)

Wow, I exceeded my bandwidth usage yesterday – couldn’t believe it! I’m mainly creating this stuff for myself to create a repository of what I’ve researched, to help me learn more.

But apparently, someone out there is looking at it. Probably, the inquisitive marketers finding new ways to put their brand out there by searching for blogs to leave their auto-generated comments on. (fair enough, not judging, keep grinding out there, people!) By the way, I delete auto comments, lol. Sorry!
